How a QR code product passport works

Every published product in DPPC gets its own passport page at a permanent address and a QR code that leads to it. A customer, retailer, service technician or inspector scans the code with a phone and sees the product data straight away, without logging in. The address does not change when the data is updated, so a code printed on a label or in a manual stays valid, and the page always shows the current product data.

What people see when they scan the code

The passport page shows the product identity (brand, model, SKU, GTIN, batch number and country of origin), public industry fields, material composition, documents and certificates marked as public together with their validity dates, manufacturer information and the publication history. The page is available in English, Polish, German and Czech, and visitors switch the language with one click.

What stays inside the company

Not everything you hold about a product should be public. In DPPC every industry field, document and certificate has a visibility setting. Internal fields and files that are not marked as public do not appear on the passport page. Downloadable documents are served through links that are valid for 30 minutes, and every download is recorded, so you can see what was downloaded and when.

A passport is published only when the product is complete

A QR code should not lead to a page with gaps. That is why a product in DPPC can only be published once its readiness score reaches 100 percent: core data and required industry fields are filled in, there is at least one material and one document, no document is rejected and linked certificates are valid. Before a product is published it goes through an approval that is recorded in its history.

Where to place the product passport QR code

The QR code from DPPC is generated in SVG format, so it prints sharply at any size. It usually goes on the product label, the rating plate, the packaging, the assembly or user manual, or the warranty card. Place it where customers look for information after purchase and where service technicians or inspectors need it while the product is in use. You can also link the passport from your online store and in materials for distributors.

How to start publishing QR code product passports

Pick the product group customers ask about most often, whether that is composition, instructions or certificates. Import the products from a CSV file, add materials and documents, mark what should be public and check the readiness score. After approval and publication, download the QR codes and pass them on to your label design. In the demo we show this process on a sample product, including what the page looks like after the code is scanned.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do we need to reprint the QR code when product data changes?

No. The code leads to a permanent passport address that does not change with updates. After the changes are saved, the page shows the new data at the same address.

What format is the QR code in?

SVG, a vector format that scales without losing quality and can be placed directly into a label or packaging design.

Do customers need to install an app to see the passport?

No. A phone camera is enough. The passport is a regular web page, available without logging in.

Can we hide some documents from customers?

Yes. Every document and certificate has a visibility setting, as do industry fields. Only information marked as public appears on the passport page.

Which languages is the passport page available in?

The passport page interface is available in English, Polish, German and Czech. Content entered by the company, such as the product description, appears as it was saved.
